The Start of Something Great!

It all started back when we were 14, who would have though 8 years later Scott and I would be engaged and counting down the days till we would be married in the San Diego Temple?

We thought since a few of our family and friends have Blogs it would be a fun thing to start. It seams to be the thing to do when you get married we are joining the club.

For those of you who may not know the story of Scott and I... I will give you a little background to update you on how we ended up here engaged and 27 days away from being married...

To be honest we cant really remember the first time we met but many were pushing both of us at age 14 to meet and become friends! Scott had a friends mom tell him he needed to find me at the stake dances and I had Scott's sister Sarah mentioning his name to me as she took me to N'SYNC concerts and hung out at my house while my dad was the bishop of the singles ward she was attending. We think the first time we officially met was at the Turky Trot dance. Stake Dances became the usual spot where we hung out. Scott knew my favorite song was "I knew I loved you before I met you" and always ditched the boys to track me down as soon as the song started so he could dance with me during it. (I didnt find this out till a few months ago!) We developed a great group of friends that spent every chance we could together. Shortly after our friendship began my parents informed me we would be moving. This didn't stop Scott and I from staying friends. AOL became our best friend as we had many nights chatting on the computer keeping in touch. Scott was always there when it was hard transitioning to a new school and new friends. He convinced his sister a few times to drive him and a few friends out to visit and play at the beach. I made a few trips up to visit also, one trip was made to go to my old High Schools Grad Night at Disneyland which Scott ( He attended another high school) was invited to go also. I have to admit I was a little bummed when I found out he was invited by another girl which meant I wouldn't be able to flirt nearly as much as I wanted to.

I left a few weeks later to BYUI and Scott stayed at home to go t
o RCC and worked before submitting his papers to go on a mission. While I was home from school for a break Scott came to visit me one last time before he left on his mission to Argentina. Later I found out his visit had the intentions of making a move before the night was over. His trip was unsuccessful but he did leave with the promise that I would write him once a month while on his mission. That became unsuccessful also! :) I received 3 or 4 letters from Scott while on his mission and one from a companion of his. He sadly didnt receive any, all though I did start two letters I gave him when he got home that never were finished. I have to admit I regret not writing but I was sick of boys and was determined to bag missionaries and boys and focus on school! This came to pay off in the end. Later I would receive a job offer back in Carlsbad with a great company, this required me to graduate a semester early in December of 2006 which happened to be 2 months after Scott would get home from his mission.

During my last semester of school I received one last letter from Scott in September of 2006 inviting me to the airport when he would be getting home. I was unable to m
ake it since I was still at school. Scott got home in October and I waited for a phone call or email from him but got inpatient when October had passed and November was coming to an end. I decided I was going to track him down! Tiffani and I found him on MySpace. We left him a message and our number. I got a phone call the next night! We chatted for a bit and planned on meeting up when I was home for Christmas. For the next few weeks Tiffani and Brookie joked that Scott and I were going to get married, little did they know what was ahead!

Love at first sight...

December 29, 2006 I dragged Brookie along with me to the new years eve dance where Scott and I planned to meet for the first time since before the mission! After shortly arriving someone (Scotts Brother) grabbed me from behind and told me someone was waiting to see me and turned me around. Scott was there and gave me a big hug! :) I thought he was quite the hottie! After two months of dates, a trip to Disneyland resulted in a first time holding hands and a first kiss! To be honest the first kiss was far from perfect since I ducked and quickly got in my car to drive away, this is something we look back and laugh at now but at the moment I felt quite dumb. I had to call him back and tell him to meet me at the 711 to get gas in our car and to redo the first kiss. From there on out we spent the next few months together when ever we could. Our dates included watching movies, going to an Aquarium, trips to Disneyland, trips to sea world and the wild animal park, meeting in Temecula to walk around the duck pond, night time chats on Skype and the list goes on.

The Fairy Tale Proposal...

August 18, 2007... My family, Scott and I took our summer vacation to Hawaii. Our first night there Scott, Brookie, Ry, and I grabbed dinner on the beach. Trying to find a place to eat became a challenge as nothing was making Brookie happy. Scott seamed to be a little stressed but I just thought he was a little moody since we could find a place to eat and we were all hungry. We finally ended up with Subway after walking around all of wakiki beach looking for something. Before I could even take a bit I think Scott was half way finished with his sandwich. I didn't realize he had plans for that evening and he was running out of time since the sun began to go down.

We left Brooke and Ryan and went on a walk, prior to leaving Scott pulled out an envelop of pictures. Th
is caught my attention and I knew something was up. As we walked along the beach I was told I wasn't able to look at the pictures yet. Scott walked me out on a jetty that he noticed had no one out at the end. As we walked out there was little crabs crawling along the side. We got to the end and he pulled out the pictures. He let me look through them as we watched the sunset. The pictures were of us together when we were 14 up until that time. As I finished the pictures he pulled out a ring and told me we have had many good time and he wanted to keep making them and asked me to marry him. Right after I said "YES!" and was still in shock, a seal swam by which we found out means good luck! It was a fairy tale proposal.

For the past 3 months we have planned and prepared for a wedding that will take place on December 29, 2007, a year exactly from the first day we saw each other after his mission.

Future Plans...

We recently found an apartment in Vista (Shadowridge) California where we will live. Scott will attend the local college and I will continue working in Carlsbad. We cant wait to be married so we wont have to deal with the hour commute to see each other.
Its been such a blessing to look back over the past few years and see the Lords hand in our life as he has prepared and placed us right where we needed to be at the perfect time to meet and take on the next step in our life. I couldn't be happier than I am right now. Without a doubt I have found the one for me who I am excited to share my life with.
