Happy Halloween!

I have never been a big fan of Halloween but now that I have a kiddo to celebrate it with I think I may start to enjoy it! We had a low key but fun day! For lunch I made Luke spiders (hot dogs and noodles) and crows fingers (apple slices)! I also gave him a little bag of Skittles just cause its Halloween!

I thought this was a funny face Luke made... I think he was still a little sleepy from nap time! 

A little sugar woke him up! 

When Scott got home we took Luke out trick or treating with Grandpa Johnson! We didn't make it very far but we walked our block. Luke was a little overwhelmed from all the kids, costumes and a few neighbors had some scary decorations.

The Love Hate Relationship I Have With Spiders

I absolutely, positively, 100% no doubt about it... HATE....Spiders!

It got this bad during our second year of marriage in 2008 when we lived in this small 2 car garage that had been converted into an apartment where we managed a house full of BYU-Idaho student boys. The place and job made for many laughs and memories we treasure but the one memory I wish I could forget took place in the middle of that Summer.  Scott was responsible for taking care of the property and had let go of the side of the house where it was just dirt and a LOT of weeds that had grown to the top of our knees and went along the whole side of the house right next to our windows. He finally cut down all the weeds one weekend which I thought I would appreciate since they defiantly were starting to look bad, this house wasn't anything fancy and it would have taken a miracle for it to look good so the weeds were hardly noticed compared to the rest of the houses issues.

Little did we know by letting the weeds get out of hand and then cutting them all down would result in an ARMY of spiders moving into our house. This place was too small for Scott and I... we definitely did not have room for the spiders! For the next week or two I would spot multiple spiders in a day... they were EVERYWHERE! I was sitting at my desk which was in a small narrow pantry/closet that was big enough for my desk and chair and not much else when all of a sudden a spider dropped down right in front of my face! I jumped back so high I flung back on chair causing it to fall over backwards and I ran out of that closet as quick as I could. Scott was at school so I was done for the day working at that point because there was NO WAY I was going back in there to get my laptop to keep working! I was so paranoid of spiders after this whole experience we moved out! To this day I am still freaked out by spiders and cant even kill them on my own! I wont even take Luke to the park up our street because the spider webs are so bad on it I freak out if I have to get close them!

Now there is only one spider in the whole world that I LOVE and may not be able to live without at the moment..... his name is.....

The Itsy-Bitsy Spider!

I am a HORRIBLE singer, I have no talent what so ever in the singing category but I still sing to Luke when no one else can hear me. When he is super fussy going to bed, during the day, in the car, During his diaper changing, wherever it is.... the one thing I can count on 95% of the time is singing the Itsy-Bitsy Spider and he calms down and listens. He usually cries right as I am done so I have to sing it over and over again but without it I would be lost! When Scott and I are together and I start to sing it Scott usually will chime in with yelling the last word of the line of the song which Luke seams to enjoy! So our song goes a little like this....

"The itsy-bitsy SPIDER

Climbed up the water SPOUT

Down came the RAIN

And washed the spider OUT

Out came the SUN

And dried up all the RAIN

And the itsy-bitsy SPIDER

Climbed up the spout AGAIN!" 

I am hoping my love for the Itsy-Bitsy Spider rubs off on Luke so he doesn't HATE our 8 legged friends as much as I do!

Ward Halloween Party

Tonight was our ward Halloween party! Which I was totally not prepared for... I left Luke's costume at home so I had to run back and get it, I didn't come up with costumes for Scott and I so we were boring, we had no decorations to decorate our trunk since they are all in storage and I didn't think to pick anything up before hand so we were "That Family" who came for the candy but didn't do very much to contribute... I did bring my assigned rolls that we had to pick up on our way there because again... I did not have time to prepare a head of time!

It took Luke a little while to warm up to all the kids running around like crazy with scary costumes on. He was clinging to Scott and I the first half of the night. He was dressed in his little robot costume. He was fine with the costume on until we put his hat on... then he wasn't a fan!

There is the baby girl at almost 23 weeks. 

He had fun walking around the trunks but was more interested in the Pumpkins that people had in their trunk then the candy!

I gave him a few pieces of candy on the way home... which might have been a bad idea on my part because was on a sugar rush before bed time. He started doing this funny face with his arms scrunched up like he was scared or trying to be a zombie when we got home which had us laughing. This was the best picture I was able to get of it but Scott did catch a toned down version of it on his video camera.

We were sure to brush his teeth before he went to bed... he loves his tooth brushes.... I think we have 5 of them for just him around the house that he loves to chew on and brush his teeth with.

LA Day Date

On Monday Scott and I took the day off of work and left Luke with my parents and headed to LA for a day date get away. I was desperately in need of a day off of work and Scott was able to get two tickets to the filming of the Conan O'Brien Show. So we decided to make it a day trip to LA and enjoy a little time together without the kiddo. I will be honest I was about to back out because I didn't want to leave Luke all day.... I guess I still am a little attached but I am glad I got over it and went along with the plans!

We first stopped at the Fashion District in LA and walked around. I almost bought baby girl a blessing dress but we ran out of time and I am sure I will regret it when I start shopping for one around here because I know they can be very pricey for a dress they only wear once. I was able to find a great deal on Luke's little white suit we got him so hopefully I will do the same for her.

After that we checked into the show and grabbed a little lunch. They have a person talk to the audience before the show to give us all the rules, he was a comedian and had us laughing the whole time. No one too exciting was on the show unfortunately. They had the an actress on that I wasn't a big fan of, a player from the Clippers, and a band we didn't know. We might have a little dancer on our hands, little baby girl was bouncing and dancing away during the bands song! Even though the show wasn't too exciting we still enjoyed the experience.

After the show we swung by Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory. Scott is a big fan of Rob, he is a Pro skateboarder and has two shows on TV one of which is filmed at the Fantasy Factory. Scott was hoping he would come rolling out in one of his crazy cars but he didn't.

Rather than sitting in the LA traffic we stopped at the Citadel Outlet Mall to grab dinner and do a little shopping. We found a few cute things for our little girl and Luke got spoiled with a few shirts from the DC and Volcom outlets which I wish we had a little closer since they are hard to find at a good price!

They were already getting ready for Christmas! CRAZY! 

We got home long after Luke's bedtime but Scott and I both had to sneak in to see him and give him a little kiss. Little get aways without the kids are definitely needed every once and a while!

The Safari Park

Yesterday we decided to take a little trip to the Safari Park. We have a yearly pass the Hardys gave us for Christmas last year and have not used it enough so we are trying to fit in a few trips before the end of the year. Next Monday we are taking work off to take the day to spend at the Zoo with Luke. Luke isn't the biggest fan of sitting in the stroller for long but he did great! You would think going to the Safari Park in October would be a great month for the weather but it was still VERY warm. When we got home we all took a little nap because the heat took all the energy out of us. It was a fun day and the older Luke gets the better adventures like these get because he enjoys it more and more.
