Oak Glen Apple Farm and Live Oak Pumpkin Patch

This Saturday we went to the Oak Glen Apple Farm and Live Oak Pumpkin Patch with Cherie and Sarah's Family. I have been looking forward to this all month! I went to Oak Glen probably every year growing up with my family usually the last week in October because a special apple called the Arkansas Black comes out and is only available for a few weeks. We would also get a year supply of Apple Whipped Honey that was to die for! Scott and I also spend a youth conference at Oak Glen one year when we were 16 or 17 so we talked about our memories of it while we drove up there. It has been a few years since we have had a chance to go to Oak Glen so I was excited!
On they way up! This was also Luke's first car ride forward facing!
The doctor said he was big enough to sit forward now!
Sadly the trip might look great from our pictures below and I am not going to sugar coat it... it was a rough day and didn't go as I had planned! First off we should have known better than to take a sick baby who always hates car rides on a 2 hour car ride, we didn't realize he had more than just 2 ear infections, he has molars coming in so he was super  grumpy the whole day,  he didn't nap more than 15 minutes during the day, and we forgot the stroller. We made our first stop at Los Rios Ranch to pick up a few bottles of Honey and hoping the Black apples were available. I was so bummed when I got there and found out they stopped making the honey 2 years ago and the apples wouldn't be available until next weekend!  I tried to stay positive and bought a bag of Fuji that are delicious and we did find a Whipped Sunflower Honey that was almost as good as the Apple Honey we use to get!
Look at those sleepy eyes and this was only the first 5 minutes that we had gotten there but he was still excited to see the pumpkins!
I was grateful I got one good picture of him smiling! Hes definitely a cutie!

Sampling the cider
Luke loved the chance to taste the apples! He was enjoyed a little Honeycrisp Apple!
Our next stop was Oak Tree Village where we always got our caramel apples and usually visited the petting zoo. We decided with Luke being as grumpy and so unpredictable on what mood he wanted to be in, it wouldn't be worth going into the zoo so we passed and just walked around the village. We did grab our caramel apples, I got the Apple Pie Apple and Scott got the Heath Bar Apple. They were so good Scott even said that it was the first caramel apple he really enjoyed.

He just wanted to be held by mom or dad, I thought this picture was cute of him grabbing on to Scott's leg!
This face on Luke says it all!
I will admit I do enjoy the cuddles I get when he is sick!

Yum!
These were our goodies we brought home!
We then said bye to the apple farms and headed to Live Oak Pumpkin Patch. On the way Luke took a little 15 minute nap and fell asleep eating his apple. He hasn't eaten an apple off the core until now and he did pretty good with it! I think half of the core was eaten along with the apple but he didn't mind one bit! He fell asleep while eating it and I tried to take it from him but he woke up so I just left him.

"Don't touch my Apple"
So sleepy! He had to have his bouncy ball and apple in his lap!
He woke up just as we pulled unto the pumpkin patch. It was a very cute Pumpkin Patch with a  little bit of everything. We walked around and someone gave Luke a few balloons which made his day, and ours since he was a little happier chasing them around! They also had a little play area for toddlers that kept him busy while the older cousins played on a few of the big kid rides. they had the cutest play houses in this area that I want in our back yard one day!

To end our day when we got home we ran to the store to get food for the week. We tried to lock our car doors but they would lock and then unlock. We tried a few different things and it still wouldn't lock. Scott was with me so I ran in while he waited in the car. He realized the car door window in the back seat made a weird noise earlier in the day so he started to roll it down but it fell off its track and wouldn't roll back up. Thankfully the window didn't break when it dropped and we have an extra car at the house to use this week.  Scott pulled out the YouTube videos to try and find a way to fix the car.

Hopefully I didn't scar my kid for life from ever wanting to go to the apple farm and pumpkin patch again! Next year I think we will make sure he is well rested and not sick when we go!
